MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION CONCENTRATION IN LOGISTICS AND SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT

Program Objectives

The concentration in logistics and supply chain management provides graduate students with the knowledge, skills, and experiences to contribute to the advancement of the logistics profession in the global and domestic marketplaces. The MBA core provides the broad managerial skills and foundation to ensure executive level integration of supply chain processes with value added processes in other disciplines such as marketing, finance and accounting. The logistics and supply chain concentration prepares individuals to plan, implement and control value-added supply chain processes of logistics, production, supply management and customer service. Collectively, these managerial imperatives are designed to prepare each student with the necessary resources and knowledge to confront the logistics and supply chain management opportunities and challenges embedded in the future business environment. The Department of Marketing and Logistics and the Center for Logistics Education and Research partners with for-profit, non-government, and government organizations to provide executive presentations, cooperative education, internships, and study abroad programs for our graduate students. Background Courses (16.5 hours)

These courses are required for those candidates with insufficient preparation for the MBA Core courses. Core Concentration Courses (9 hours)

LSCM 5560
Strategic Logistics Management -Analysis of internal and environmental factors affecting logistical systems and operations. Includes the integration of transportation, inventory, facility location, informational flow, materials handling and packaging activities into a system for managing a physical flow of inbound and outbound products and materials in a global environment. The total-cost and total-system approaches are developed in relationship to planning and managing the logistical function within the organization.
LSCM 5300
Strategic Supply Chain Management - The distribution and logistics imperative is to achieve cost-containment while delivering customer satisfaction. This course examines how channel integration fosters the coordination; systemization needed to maximize efficiency and produces the greatest net value for the customer. Students explore how resource allocation and channel relationship decisions impact inventory, transportation, warehousing, purchasing and packaging systems.
LSCM 5960
Advanced Supply Chain Management Problems - Decision-making tools and skills as they apply to logistics and supply chain management. Course stresses developing skills to analyze technical problems and their interrelationships within a company. Prerequisite(s): LSCM 5300 and 5560.

  5. The successful application to the Toulouse School of Graduate Studies is forwarded to the COBA if you indicated that the MBA is intended field of study.
  6. After you are notified of your admittance into the MBA, the MBA Graduate office evaluates your record to determine what background courses, credit from other universities, and other transfers are applicable.
  7. You file a degree plan which is developed in consultation with the Graduate Advisor for the Department of Marketing and Logistics, who approves your degree plan.
